Manic Man

Shane, battling social anxiety at a party, finds himself dissociating from his own body when social pressure pushes him to the brink, turning a simple gathering into a surreal escape from reality.

What Happens When Reality Slips Away?

Dissociation. Detachment. A disembodied mind. Shane watches the world slip by, his friends continue laughing, drinking, and dancing—unaware of the void he’s falling into. What happens when you no longer recognize yourself?

Fritz Frauendorf
Writer/Director/Executive Producer

Manic Man is the final entry of a three-part series examining the psychological effects of trauma on mental health and the psyche, delving into issues like depression, anxiety, and dissociation. These films serve as a proof of concept for a feature film called re:attachment, which follows the central character depicted across the short film version of re:attachment, Dona Nobis Pacem, and now Manic Man as he is interrogated by a detective following a grisly murder he is implicated in, despite having no memory of the events surrounding it. The feature script was under second round consideration by the Sundance Institute for their 2025 Feature Development Track

Originally conceptualized in 2021, Manic Man reflects Fritz’s longtime drive to visually capture the experience of feeling out of body and disconnected from others due to dissociation. With beautiful cinematography, precise editing, immersive sound design, and professional visual effects, Fritz has finally brought his vision to life.

Follow Fritz's journey as he continues on a path towards completing his first feature film that deals with complex and raw emotions like depicted in Manic Man.

Remo Rivero Plays Shane

Following their working chemistry on Dona Nobis Pacem, Remo wanted to be a part of production for Manic Man. Following a last minute fallout of Shane’s original actor, Remo stepped in to fill his shoes, bringing a serious demeanor to Shane’s character that embodies what it feels like to always sit on the outside looking in.
